Liquid Friday’s monthly Liquid Track Day racing event sorts out the frontrunners from the novices!

Liquid Track Day is the UK recruitment industry’s monthly one-day karting competition, sponsored by leading umbrella company, Liquid Friday, and established around 3 years ago.

Held once a month at one of three top race tracks across the country in rotation – Rye House in Hoddesdon, Stretton 2000 in Leicester and Whilton Mill, Northamptonshire – the karting day out is an opportunity for between 6 and 12recruiters and their clients to race against each other and compete to be top of the league table.

The results are posted on the official Liquid Track Day website: www.liquidtrackday.co.uk and the winner is presented with a trophy and a bottle of champagne. All competitors receive a DVD of their day so that they can relive the day over and over again! Liquid Friday’s innovative management team originally came up with the idea as a way to raise the profile of the company and encourage recruiters to recommend contractors, in a ‘refer a contractor’ scheme with a difference. When a recruiter refers 5 or more contractors to Liquid Friday, they qualify to take part in this high octane day of thrills and spills. Liquid Friday also use the race days as an opportunity to raise money for their chosen charity, Marie Curie Cancer Care.

Over the years, some 53 recruiters have taken part and all have had a thoroughly enjoyable day. Tom Barker from Select Engineering said: ‘The Liquid track day is a great opportunity for team bonding and was well organized from start to finish. The karts are fast and once you’ve mastered the corners really good fun. I would recommend this for any recruiter looking for a fun action- packed day out!’

The machines used on the day are Rotax MAX karts powered by a Rotax FR125 cc engine generating 32 bhp. Capable of travelling from 0-60 in under 3 seconds and reaching speeds of up to 90 mph, these are not for the faint hearted!

The karts are provided by Liquid Friday and recruiters can also hire any of the three tracks to hold corporate hospitality days for valued clients or to reward hard-working staff.Each race day begins with a half-hour safety briefing followed by 2 and ½ hours of racing. Lunch is provided and then the racing continues for another 2 and ½ hours. The champagne presentation then takes place at 4pm. The most recent race day was held on Thursday 15th March and the top time was achieved by Duncan Macbeth of South Bucks Tree Surgeons, a contractor who was brought along as a guest by his recruitment consultant.

Nick Peacock from Ascendant still holds the best time for the track at 51.30. All competitors were presented with a DVD of their day so that they can relive it over and over again!

Liquid Friday’s Regional Manager, Mark Slane picked up the bar bill for the night, as well as providing a prize of £100 vouchers for Eldon Square shopping centre.

Around 9 teams of 6 took part, made up of Randstad clients and several contractors. Mark joined the Randstad team and a great night was had by all. Deborah Hennessy of Colton Plant (pictured above with Mark Slane) was delighted to win the auction for the Eldon Square vouchers. The prize was presented by Lucy Young of Randstad CPE.

A total of £635 was made on the night for charity, half of which will be donated to the Lighthouse Benevolent Club and half to Action Medical Research, the charity of the quiz winners, John Sisk & Son.

Mark Slane commented: ‘We all had a great time and Liquid Friday were delighted to sponsor the event, in recognition that Randstad is one of our longest serving clients. Well done to Randstad CPE, Deborah of Colton Plant and congratulations to the overall quiz winners, John Sisk.’
