This month we chat to Josh Wilkie, Business Development Manager. Josh is one of 3 BDMs whose job it is to support our agency partners. As one of the newer members of the team, we ask him how he’s finding his new role and settling into life at Liquid Friday.

4 months

Tell us a bit about your role

My role is to build and maintain relationships between Liquid Friday and the contractors and agencies that trust us. I regularly visit recruitment agencies with the intention of providing support when needed, and making sure they have a face they know and can trust. I need to have an in-depth knowledge of the industry, but above all I need to be amicable and personable.

Liquid Friday is human. By that I mean, all of the staff working here know how to communicate with contractors and agencies in a way that is easy to understand. Being crystal-clear and absent of jargon is at the heart of everything we do, and if we can present complicated ideas in a simple way, then people will trust us.

My views on the world at the moment for recruiters are a little reserved, as I am still fairly new to the industry. That being said, the majority of people I have met with have expressed concerns with the amount of work they have to offer out, and the words “slow” and “quiet” have been said to me on more than one occasion.

The team. When you are working with people who are always smiling and always positive, working in any scenario would be fun.

Skiing is my main passion, and I have done several seasons in the French Alps. It’s a little difficult to keep up the sport when you’re in Portsmouth, so I try to keep myself active with gymnastics; it allows me to practice my tricks for the next time I’m on the snow.
