Nurses Day 2022 – shout to our nurses!
I’m sure we’ve all been in the hands of a marvellous nurse, even if it’s just on the end of a vaccination jab!
In recognition of these heroes in scrubs, May 12th is Nurses Day, celebrating the commitment and talent of nurses around the world.
Despite working through highly challenging circumstances, not least during the last two years of the pandemic, nursing staff continue to go above and beyond their duty to deliver highly-skilled exemplary care to their patients. They genuinely make a difference to people’s lives.
Fact alert! The date of Nurses Day holds particular significance- it is marked on 12th May because it’s the birthday of nursing pioneer Florence Nightingale and is led by the International Council of Nurses (ICN).
Celebrating Liquid Friday’s amazing nurses
Liquid Friday supports hundreds of agency staff across the UK healthcare sector. This includes a significant number of nurses engaged in a variety of healthcare settings, from community nursing to mental health, general practice and occupational health.
There are far too many to name (and most would be far too modest to let us!) but we would just like to thank them all for their tireless efforts and boundless dedication.
Share your #BestOfNursing story
Chief Executive of the Royal College of Nursing (RCN), Pat Cullen explained how to get involved:
“Nurses Day, on 12 May 2022, is an opportunity to showcase the amazing work of our members and to say thank you to nursing staff across the UK.
This year we are encouraging nursing staff, as well as members of the public, to join us and share your #BestOfNursing story – it could be about care you or a colleague provided, or care provided to yourself or a loved one.
Despite working through challenging circumstances, nursing staff around the world continue to go above and beyond to deliver highly skilled, safety critical care to patients every single day.”*
