We’re sponsoring Portsmouth Pride 2023!

We’re so excited to announce that next year, for the first time, we’ll be sponsoring Portsmouth Pride!

At Liquid Friday we strive to provide a fully equitable, diverse and inclusive working culture where everyone can be themselves and be the best they can be. In sponsoring Pride we get to put our money where our mouth is while being part of something brilliant in our local community.

The main event will take place on Saturday 10th June 2023, with a parade followed by a fantastic festival on Southsea Common. More details will be revealed as the event gets closer, but it no doubt gives us all something to look forward to during the long dark days of winter!

Liquid Friday’s sponsorship, along with that of other local businesses means that Portsmouth Pride is able to continue to be a free event, so everyone can attend and have a fantastic day.

Leading the charge on diversity & inclusion

Behind all the fun and fabulousness of Pride is a serious message. Despite substantial strides in workplace diversity, more than 53% of LGBTQ+ workers hide their identity in the workplace for fear of losing their jobs – and we don’t believe that in this day and age, this should be acceptable.

Joe Taffurelli, Liquid Friday’s Chief Operating Officer makes clear the company’s stance on the issue:

“It is my strong belief that as I have moved through my own career, there have been some substantial leaps forward in LGBTQ+ rights. However, I can assure you that the fight for respect, acceptance and tolerance is not over. There are sadly too many incidents in the press and tribunals of shocking discrimination cases, it is devastating that this is still the case in 21st century Britain and our industry has the ability, influence and position within supply chains to lead this change and ensure that everyone regardless of their gender or sexuality is afforded the same opportunities.

We are working hard at Liquid Friday to make sure we are leading the charge, we have always prided ourselves on being an inclusive employer that goes beyond simply “accepting” people for who they are but celebrating them for their differences. It may even be the secret to our success, as one client once kindly once informed me that they love Liquid Friday as we are a “collection of slightly quirky individuals” – for me that was a huge accolade. I for one would rather work in a diverse, vibrant and exciting environment that clearly embraces people from every part of the rainbow.”
